Important...Please read !!

Summer break is almost over !!  Next month (August)  Slingshot racing continues for the second half of the year. Sumter Speedway closes its doors but will have very little effect on the busy Slingshot schedule. There will be a meeting at the next Dirt Devils race about the upcoming schedule for 2011. Several tracks have asked for the Slingshots to return. The decision will be voted on by the drivers. I am very excited to tell everyone ......20 ...cars are in Florida. with a driver for almost every car. A National at Dirt Devils Speedway in November looks very promising. Slinger Weeks 3 will release some BIG news soon. Slinger Weeks will have a new track in 2011 and friday opening night could have a very BIG payout, with the Super National on Saturday. The Slingshot Class continues to grow like no other form of motorsports in Florida. And is the only class to maintain it's committed drivers. Thank You to all my racing friends for helping me achieve my goals...lets keep moving forward!!

Good Luck to the teams heading to PA for the Reading Super National Aug. 9-10

Bad Fast Earl Roberts WINS Dirt Devils Speedway

Triple wammy night at Dirt Devils Speedway. Florida Slingshots Travel Series, Regional, and Dirt Devils local track points all on the line. Record turnout for the Slingshot class showed this was the race to win. The air was thick and the pit area was pretty quite with everyone trying to put in their best set up for the night. Jason Ford had the target on his head as the man to beat as he was undefeated at Dirt Devils going into this race...

The Heat races were split in two races. The top six qualifiers were inverted by Florida Slingshots travel series point standings. Current point leader #2 Earl Roberts picked up the win in the first heat. The #1c Branden Clauss would finish 2nd and #41 Brian Smith 3rd.

The second heat #17 Rob Sweeten beat out the fast #5s of Roy Bryan. Rounding out the top three was the driver for # 99 Mike Smith.

13 cars started the feature. The #41 of Brian Smith led the first 8 laps. The #1c Branden Clauss was trying several times under Brian Smith to grab the top spot. On lap 8 Branden would push the issue a little to hard spinning the #41 of Smith sending them both to the rear of the field. The top 6 spots were bumper to bumper with some good driving by all. On the restart The #2 Earl Roberts had his hands full with Roy Bryan, Jason Ford and Rob Sweeten all close behind. The #2 Roberts started to make some distance between himself and the other drivers picking up $20.00 for leading at halfway. Jason Ford who really didn't seam like a threat all night started to pour it on. with 5 to go #428 started to reel in the #2 of Roberts. The #17 Rob Sweeten close behind. In the #77x Leroy Meade made his way to 4th spot, with hard charger #0 C.R. Hill now in 5th. With one to go on the last corner #428 Jason Ford gave the #2 Roberts a rub and got up along side Roberts to finish 2nd only by a margin of 2 feet. I really enjoyed this night of racing. With bumper to bumper sometimes bumper into bumper racing showed why the Singshot class is the fastest growing form of motorsports today...Happy mothers day to all moms...See ya at the races!!!

Ford Dominates Dirt Devils...Again

Great weekend at Dirt Devils Speedway. Many drivers commented on the smooth well prepared surface and great job by the officials. Nine drivers came out to battle for the Dirt Devils point race. Jason Ford had a lucky draw that set him on the pole for the heat race he would use that luck of the draw to take the #428 all the way to the win. #2 Earl Roberts followed close behind for the 2nd spot.

In
the Feature the #428 would start on the pole and never look back. Jason has been able to have a dominating set up so far this year at all the tracks but at Dirt Devils he's got it down. Finishing in 2nd spot was #2 Earl Roberts. Jason had commented that if Earl started in front of him he didn't think he would have been able to get around Earl. The #2 of Earl Roberts had fought hard the whole race but that Jason Ford was just a little faster each lap. Having another top 3 finish was #72 Rick Stewart who soon could break out for a win.

Finish order (9) entries

1.   #428  Jason Ford
2.   #2     Earl Roberts
3.   #72    Rick Stewart

In the spotlight this week is Tyler Boyd Florida's youngest Slingshot driver on the Florida Slingshot Tour. Tyler had a great weekend this week at Sumter finishing 5th in a 12 car field. He was also running 5th in the first heat until a late race caution got the best of him. Because Tyler had such a good racing history even at his age that made his transition from karts to the 40 hp Slingshot easier. I look forward to seeing alot of success from this young driver in the 2010 season. I had the chance to catch up with Tyler and interview him at the race track. Tylers Bio is below his picture please take the time to read his accomplishments and click on the Youtube video below to find out more about this talented 13 year old......Happy Easter
