Famed son of a Legend racer from the north east. The Franchise learned from his father what it takes to get the job done. With Obe One Dave turning the wrenches, family racing runs deep. The slingshots would like to thank Bill Cleary for putting up the cash, trophies for not only the winter shoot out. But also for the five race season points. Bill tries very hard to make the best for us when we are at his track. Thanks to him and all his crew inviting the slingshots to our first winter shoot out! Running a race track is not a simple task and the slingshots respect and stand by the people and calls made.

They say in life what does not kill you makes u better and stronger. If that is true the world better be looking for The Hurricane Hammond. The shoot out was a all out pro style race, Two 8 lap practice sessions and hit the stop watch. As the Racers laid down there best laps . The 5x and 6 put there cars in 1 and two. The Fast old man in the 5x was only two one hundreds faster. The Fast Old Man takes them to green. As the racers battled for rank the race went into turn one and it was on. In the pack Terry Hatten an (Army of ONE) shoed the 428 as another new racer shoed the 5s for the first time Scott( The Hawk Eye) Faulconer. They had come to measure their talents in the best class on dirt. In the race was The Professor ,HOT Rod last weeks dominator The Franchise. But back to the story. The green drops and no one is better than THe Fast Old Man from plant City. But the winds of change are a blowing, Hurricane Hammond takes his shining number 6 to point with a move to the inside in turn 3 then out of 4 we have a new leader. The Hurricane blew at gale force till about lap 18. The 6 was loosing grip in the center of the turns as the 5x chewed into his 7 car lead. Racing was fast as Franchise and THE ARMY OF ONE Terry Hatten battled it out With Hawk Eye Faulconer in tow. But who is that Masked Man in the 77x working his way thru traffic. In the second team 428 car. As the leaders battled the 77x closed in. At lap 20 The Hurricanes lead was down graded to just a few feet. As 5x closed in ,Young Hurricane Hammond DROVE the race of his life. As his car moved up off the center of the turn. The Fast Old man saw his chance And dove off into turn two. Two racers fighting to be the best. As the two made contact, The 6 went hard into the retaining wall and 5x turned to just miss the 6 as it bounced out into traffic. The 77x in hot pursuit narrowly missed the whole deal as he had closed on the leaders . The Yellow out ,the 5x was moved to the 3 postion. Paul the Professor the mark of steady smart driving moved to second, 77x to pole. A two place deduction for the 5x for aggressive driving call by FLAG Man Bill Clery, and corner worker Joe. In protest the 5x Left the track moving the Army OF ONE to 3. The 77x takes them to green white Checkers. THe ever present Professor Paul Britten scores a second place finish to his credit. Paul has really turned it on of late, A 3 place finish for TERRY (AN ARMY OF ONE) in a slingshot.

As for the turn two accident, it was racing. A many time feature winner wanting to win, A young man looking for his first win. In no way do I feel that what happened was on purpose. In what I feel was missed was a great chance to receive our awards and represent our class AT THE AWARDS IN FRONT OF THE OTHER CLASS that all attended. ALL THE TOP CARS RAN FUEL FROM THE SAME JUGS. 77 428 72 5 24 THAT IS WHY WE DID NOT CHECK FUEL. I know we are a great class and I am very proud of my fellow racers and our 2011 season. Good luck to us all in 2012. It has been the best racing years of my life with all of you. RETURN OF THE JEDI!!!! THE FRANCHISE

Like A young Luke Skywalker the Franchise and Obi-won Dave Kenobi tuned the 42 x wing fighter to light speed. The two seemed to be a Force to impossible to stop. The Franchise Skywalker pulled the number one spot to start the heat. Franchise took the green and never looked back. The 42 takes them to green in the feature. Franchise used the Force of the best tuned chasse to lead to almost half way as the warp drive gave out ending his night. It was not to be , But seeing Jedi Franchise out front was even a good sight from the seat of the 428. I took us back to green knowing the best car was out. The Crafty Old man Was hot in tow, I gassed the 428 as the 5x pushed me to be my best. Just past half way and a close call or two in lapped traffic the 5s and The Ice Man Anthony Stewart car 33 got together and ended both there nights. Mikey in the 5s did not see the 33 and hit hard. In this young racers few starts he has learned allot and was quick to say he just did not see Anthony. Being the Ice Man and veteran racer he is was Quick to forgive the whole thing as justa racein deal. The Crafty Old Man in his ever fast 5x took one more try as he is the restart King. The old 428 hung on to win for me. The finish The 428 The Crafty Old man Roy in the 5x The professor Paul 72x. And in 4 Hot Rod Herold 24 42 5s 33 did not finish 7 car field

The story is their is no story. Roy shows up and proceeds to dominate his fellow racers. He has tuned his 5x to back to back wins and is on the move to make his presents knowen. A great heat two win by Fablous Phil, his first time back at O S P in a slingshot. The CHASSIE Steve Rosa had the blue flame 4 fly`in in heat two. Heat race 1 was all Roy.

Oct22 THREE WIDE OUT OF TURN 4 428 FOR THE WIN

October 22, 2011, the weather has broke, and winter is in the air. The racers gathered to give thanks for a great 2011 race season. This was a non points race, and the drivers of the Slingshots where ready to tune their rides for next months TWO KINGS BATTLE ROYAL . As the drivers tried new combos two squeeze out that little Extra! The line up for heat one was set as the 5s brought them to green. The Slingshots drivers showed that they had come to race hard. As they took the green, cars touched, and the 5s , 24 got the worst of the deal. The 5s, 24, had to sit the rest of the heat out. The restart of the following four was nose to tail close racing. Hurricane Hammond lead until the last couple of laps. The 428 worked to the inside of The Hurricane. The feature showed the return of all 7 cars as the 428 took them to Green. The 428 lead till the first caution as they went back to green the 5x and 6 would have no part of that. As green came out the 6 went to the inside, and the 5x to the outside. They rolled three wide into 3 and out of 4, and down the front stretch as the green waved. The 428 settled into third, Hurricane pulled a couple of cars and Heat Race Roy looked to work his magic once more. The 428 pulled back to the 5x as he got wide going in. Then it was a couple of laps as Levi in the 6 showed the way. The 6 car started to push just a little as that was all th the 428 needed to make the move. The Hitt Man Josh Jones was close behind. As the bells rang The Hitt Man gaining on the Hurricane the checkers hit the crisp night air. 428 6 77x 24 5x 42 5s. To The FRANCHISE , HOT ROD AND RALPH, who all endured accidents or mechanical problems and came back for the feature worked all night. True racers and winners in my book. Congrats to The Hitt Man who finished with his second 3 place position in only his 4th race in a slingshot.

IN RACING AS IN LIFE TIMING IS EVERYTHING

As fine wine ages to perfection, So Roy has in his craft of slingshot racing. From driving to set up, he has moved himself to the front of the class. The 428 took them to green, But that advantage was crushed as a perfectly timed start sent the 5x driver with just enuff room to get in front of the sleeping driver of the 428. The Franchise was in tow third rubbing the bumper of the 428 like it was a magic lamp. The Franchise almost got his wish as the 428 managed to pull ahead and back to with in a few cars of the 5x. As the race wound down the drivers all drove their lines with very few mistakes. The big mover was the 6 car of Levi The Hurricane Hammond . Levi blew into Fruitland Park for the first time this weekend but found the climate to his liking. This young racer did a great job on a track his rivals have already been too. The Professor in the 72x had mechanical problems sending him to the pits. The other Racers all finish. Ralph in the 5s made allot of progress with sorting out some very tuff engine problems of late and was much better. finishing 5x 428 42 THANKS TO O.S.P FOR THE INVITE! To all the people that make that place great.

King of the Slide at The Park! Hot Rod wins second heat in front of the home sponsors! He beats them with his eyes closed!

The 2009 Sumter Co track champ beats them with his eyes close as seen in photo. The other racers are wide eyed as Hot Rod took the freshly water track to his advantage. Herold took the green and never looked back, this is his second heat win this year! At this track! For many who had not seen him show case his talents, He left no one out as he pulled steadily off into the sunset. Herold`s sponsor , The Villages crowned him with there life time achievement award in 2009 for living your dream. And he has sure lived up to that. A true love of slingshot racing is what he has, congrads Hot Rod on your second heat win in 2011.

Just like the running of the bulls, Ocala brings out the hard chargers. The 72x brought them to green as the 428 was out side poll. That lasted very little time as Fords 428 was tight and had to settle back to 4 th. The race was green as Roy pulled past Paul , going to point. As the drivers of 72 x and the 428 battled it out. Roy looked to be an early favorite to win. As the laps wound down to 5 the action started heating up! Phil lit the after burner on the blue flame number 4. From cars back he reeled in Roy like a bass at a fishing tournament. To the inside Roy powered back with the ever fast 5x. Just behind them the 72x and the 428 ever so close racing wheel to wheel. With just three laps on the clock. Lapped traffic slowed Paul as he tried to move around the 77x. They touched as Paul tried to move the 77x up some. To late for the 428 , with two cars side ways there was no place to go. The 72x and 77X raced on. Up front the Crafty old Man was trying the bottom grove .They touched and to avoid a larger wreck 5x took the hay bails. The restart was all Fabulous Phil as he hammer down to another WIN! Mikey did a good job in only his 4 th race as a slingshot driver. keeping the pace with a car he was just getting use too. Thanks to all the drivers that showed to make this a great race to watch. Thanks to all the guys , I seen Ralph picking up trash and helping me load stuff. The slingshot pit area looked untouched after a hard night of racing in the morning light. Good job guys! Thanks to all the crew at the Bull Ring!!!!! And always to the fans of of slinshot racing

The professor runs the formula for another Heat Win

The heat racing was wide open as racers checked the machines they drove to the surface and condiction of the track. Some cars loose some tight. In the first heat race, It was the famous Heat race Roy in the always fast 5x. As the second program inverted it was all Paul The Professor Britten, As arch Rivals 428 and 5x used a little bump and run in the turns to get the advantage they needed. Out of turn two the track was some how narrowed for spilt second as all three drivers moved in on the same piece of real estate. Sending the 428 limping and the 5x @ 4 to the pits. Paul then cruising to his second heat win in as many races. heat 1 5x 428 4 heat 2 72 24 77x

Florida Racers Thunder back from Summer Break o9 1o

As the clouds gave way to blue sky. The sun shined down on a near perfect Dirt Devils speedway. The heat started with Josh the Hitt Man Jones leading them to green. The professor Paul Britten drew a mid pack number but soon showed his machine came to win. Passing us as if we where tied to a fence post. As a pre race agreement the front runners would start in the rear of the feature. The track was soft and after the slingshots ran the roller was needed. We all decided to wait to the end of the program to run. The Kart racers put on a great show for us. The corner workers threw the tires over the burm and said, boys the track is yours. With 5 xtra Laps to run the Hitt Man in the 77x brought us to green. Took two times then we where off. As the racers ran nose to tail. The 428 caught a lucky break as most of the cars in front of him where still a little tight running the center of the turns. Josh fell in behind the 428 and the racers battled behind Josh at every lap. Heat race Roy was suffering from an engine missfire holding on to 3. Heat race winner Paul made contact with another car cutting a tire ending his night. As the race wound down with nose to tail racing from 2 place to 4 place. As second place 77x approached lap traffic the 4 of Fabulous Phil Rosa saw his chance charging to the front. Moving past Hot Rod Herold in the 24. Next was the 5x ,then with just two laps to go he pulled beside the 77x. The 77x used the run off the high side to pull back a half car. Fab Phil Rosa drove down in 3 as Josh slipped to the middle of the turn. The 4 powered off the fourth turn to beat the 77x to the line.

The old guy does it again, A great performance was turned in by all racers. Levi did a great job moving to second with a late race pass. Shawn Ford ran the 77x, to a good finish as a soft surface was enjoyed by all the racers. Bill did a great job in getting the track ready. Rain was a factor, thanks to the guys that worked very hard.

Phil Rosa wins at Hurricane Speedway

Hurricane Speedway a track now becoming known as the Equalizer as the Slingshot teams just never know who might win each night. The track always changes and is never the same each week making Hurricane Speedway a great track for the Slingshots. Phil Rosa picked the right set up beating out Roy Bryan and Levi Hammond. Series dominator Jason Ford finished in the forth position.
